The mantle in your home easily becomes the heart of the room during the Holiday’s. Add a fireplace to your space and you might never leave this room. Figuring out how you want to decorate your mantle can become stressful, since we tend to put such an emphasis on how we decorate our mantel’s for the Holiday’s. The hardest part is getting started, but once you nail down your ideal design, and select your décor, the decorating process seems to fly by.
Here are some tips and tricks on ways to transform your mantel this Holiday season.
Create BALANCE. This is key when decorating your mantel, make sure you pay attention to the proportion, height, and scale of your decorations. It’s best to start with taller objects on the ends and move the shorter objects towards the front. Don’t be afraid to layer your items of different heights for a visual pop!
Select a color palette. When selecting a color palette for your Holiday mantel stick to a neutral palette and add pops of color throughout. Try sticking to three colors max. You don’t want your mantle to look cluttered. Stockings are a great way to add a pop of color.
Play with textures. When you stick with a neutral color pattern it allows you more freedom with textures. Adding candles of different shapes and sizes, with a shine or sheen to them, is an easy way to add some texture to your mantle. We love a gold or silver candle for the Holiday’s.
Shapes. Just like any space in your home incorporating a mix of organic and geometric shapes will create a unique, and aesthetically pleasing, design to your space. Don’t be afraid to mix and match the shapes throughout your design.
These are just some tips and tricks for decorating your mantle. Have fun with this project and don’t be afraid to mix up your textures and shapes!
